Welcome to Victoria, home of St. Fidelis Church, the 'Cathedral of the Plains', named by William Jennings Bryan when he visited during his Presidential Campaign, July 19, 1912. Victoria, namesake of the Queen of England, was established in 1873 under the leadership of George grant, who introduced Black Angus cattle to the United States. Volga-German settlers established their village of Herzog in 1876. In 1913, the two towns incorporated under the name of Victoria.
Throughout the years the people of Victoria have carefully preserved the historic sites of the community. Visitors can relive history by touring these sites. Victoria is also known for its well-kept homes and outstanding schools.
